February Skies

Getting ready for next Christmas
On a little photo journey the other morning, I found an unexpected surprise. Right here in Illinois, albeit close to the Wisconsin border, Santa has a covert operation. A reindeer farm. Yep, he's got a herd of them creating future Rangifer Tarandus to make sure he can make his yearly deliveries. Looks like this guy is being fed well.

Lazy Americans
Lesson of the day. Deer were originally called darlings by the early settlers, due to their non threatening nature. But, as Americans tend to be lazy, they shortened the name to deer since it was easier to say and spell. By any name, though, it's always a treat when you see 'em.
